Katsina Customs rakes in N179m

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Katsina State Command, yesterday, said it collected N179.2 million in revenue for the month of November this year.
In the period under review, the service also intercepted smuggled items with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of more than N119 million. Comptroller of the command, Chedi Wada, told newsmen that the revenue collected showed increase of N58 million (47 per cent) from October’s N121 million.
Wada said the command was able to intercept 239 bags of 50kg rice with DPV of over N7 million, as well as 821 cartons of noodles, and 973kg exhaust fiber catalyst with DPV of N4.9 million and N74.9 million respectively.
He said 70 (50kg) cylinders of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, 25 bales of used clothing and seven sacks of children’s wears with DPV of N5.3 million, N1.5 million and N252,000 respectively.
He said 11 cars were seized by the command, including a Lexus (SUV) with DPV of N7.2 million, BMW with DPV of N4 million, and Toyota Corolla with DPV of NN3.2 million.
The customs boss said a used J5 bus, Honda Accord and a Golf Wagon with DPV of N1.7 million, N2 million and N2 million respectively were also confiscated during period under review.
Wada added that in connection with the seizures, four suspects were arrested and granted administrative bail pending the conclusion of investigations.
