The Katsina State government is to foot medical bills and related expenses of nine victims of the car accident that involved Governor Dikko Radda.
The governor was reported to have been involved in a crash on Sunday night along the Katsina-Daura highway. He was said to be leaving Daura, ostensibly where he had been receiving dignitaries who came to the state to express their condolences over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Zango, said two of the nine passengers in the affected vehicle got minor fractures.
Zango also said the remaining seven passengers sustained varying injuries and bruises, but no casualties were reported. He said the victims are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Daura, adding that the government would underwrite their medical and related expenditure.
“Katsina State government pledged to settle all medical bills and expenses to the nine victims of the car accident that involved the State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda.”
“On Sunday evening, 20th July 2025, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, was involved in a minor car accident at Katsina Road, Daura, near the School of Health Technology, Daura.
“The accident occurred when a private Golf Volkswagen vehicle hit the vehicle carrying His Excellency, the State Governor.
“No casualty was reported. However, two out of the nine passengers, inside the private Volkswagen Golf vehicle, suffered simple fractures, while the other seven sustained various injuries and bruises.
“They are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Daura,” the statement read in part. The governor, who has since been discharged, thanked well-wishers His Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, made the confirmation.
