Musawa Local Council of Katsina State has engaged 75 Islamic scholars to pray against terrorism and related ills in the area and the state.
Its Executive Chairman, Dr. Habib Abdulkadir, made this known while speaking with newsmen.
The council area is among several others faced with recurring security challenges brought about by activities of bandits, terrorists, kidnappers and rustlers.
Hundreds of people have lost their lives, while thousands have been abducted for ransom in the security-prone councils.
Besides Musawa, other councils facing the challenge include Matazau, Jibia, Safana, Batsari, Batagrawa, Faskari, Kankara, Malumfashi, Funtua and Bakori.
Abdulkadir said the Islamic scholars were selected from different religious sects and would continue to make supplications for a lasting end to the security challenges facing the council and state.
He said the government pays more than N4 million monthly for prayers and allowance to the clerics.
MEANWHILE, some communities in Jibia town, Jibia Local Council of Katsina State have been reconnected to the national grid after more than 200 days of being disconnected from the facility.
The reconnection followed an intervention by the council chairman, Bishir Maitan, after meeting with representatives of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
The council area currently foots electricity bills of several settlements, as insecurity and other economic challenges have hampered prompt payment of power bills.
According to Maitan, several people in the council have been bedevilled by security challenges, particularly in areas facing attacks by bandits and rustlers.
He said due to the development, many of them have challenges making ends meet, as they cannot go to their farms, or go about their day-to-day businesses.
The chairman stressed the importance of electricity in boosting the local economy, adding that the Jibia people were now empowered to drive their economic growth.
