Key into IGP’s vision, respect human rights, Alabi warns detectives

The newly deployed Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), DIG Abiodu Alabi, has warned detectives in the department to passionately pursue the vision of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and desist from abusing the rights of Nigerians.

DIG Alabi said this at the maiden meeting with senior police investigators held during the week at Area 10, Garki, Abuja.

The DIG, FCID, oversees core investigative matters brought before the police in Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, Gombe and Enugu Annexes.

He called for officers’ support to redeem the image of the department, adding that it is compulsory for every officer to key into the vision and mission of the IGP while laying emphasis on the rule of law and respect for human rights and dignity.

Alabi stressed that he would not condone over detention, corruption, extortion, professional misconduct, illegal arrest, abuse of power and human rights, enjoining the officers to be upright in dealing with matters referred to them for investigation and above all to have the fear of God when dealing with the public and colleagues.

He also called on officers to be punctual to work, be security conscious and to deploy intelligence at all times to enhance performance.
