Kidnapped council boss released

The police have said the Chairman of Kanke Local Council of Plateau State, Henry Gotip, who was kidnapped on Wednesday, has been released by his abductors unhurt.

Plateau police spokesman, Alfred Alabo, stated, yesterday, that Gotip had been re-united with his family, who would be debriefed soon by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command to build up intelligence towards arrest of the abductors.

The Commissioner of Police, Bartholomew Onyeka, reiterated the command’s commitment to making the state habitable for all indigenes.

Onyeka further urged members of the public to continue assisting the police with timely information to enable it to respond swiftly to incidents.

IN a related development, nine children between five and 15 years of age have been reported missing in Mado Village, Tudun Wada in Jos North Local Council.

The incident happened about 10a.m. on Wednesday when one of the arrested suspects, simply called Dickson, 32, was exposed through a call he was making to one accomplice and security personnel were alerted.

The suspect confessed to have stolen nine children with his accomplice and killed one himself.

He also confessed to removing the victim’s body parts, which he sold to one Alhaji in Nasarawa State.

“I sold each child at N300,000,” he added.

Some of the suspects arrested in the community were almost lynched by the mob but were rescued by the military.

Efforts to reach Alabo were unsuccessful, as his phone line was not going through at the time of filing this report.
