Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello

A group, Mega Imolede Movement of Kogi West Senatorial District, Kogi State, has warned the danger playing out in the state, especially rumour of the rejection of a new Police Commissioner.

The group said the political drama is capable of unsettling youths in the state.

In the last few weeks, the senator has been having a running battle with the police and the state governor, Yahaya Bello.

The crisis reached its peak last week, when suspects linked to the senator allegedly escaped from police custody in Lokoja and subsequent news that Melaye had fled the country to evade police arrest.

In a statement signed by its coordinator, Comrade Oluade Gbenga Bright, the group described the current face-off between the senator, the police and Governor Bello, as an orchestrated attempt to blackmail their senator.

He said the jailbreak on the eve of parading suspects in court looks like a bad set up.

Bright noted that if a seating senator and the son of an ex-governor of the state could be set up in that manner, ordinary youths in the state should not sleep with their two eyes closed.
