Kogi gov assures minister-designate, Audu, of support

Yahaya Bello

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has assured minister-designate, Shaibu Audu, of his unwavering support and encouragement once he assumes the ministerial position.

Bello, who gave the assurance, yesterday, when Audu visited him, emphasised that his nomination for the post aligned with his (Bello) politics of equity, which recognises and values every individual in the state, regardless of ethnicity or religion.    He expressed his belief in Audu’s impressive curriculum vitae and sound academic background for success in any ministry he is assigned.

The governor said Audu’s nomination was a result of his loyalty, patience and patriotism to the state and the country. He praised the nominee for displaying remarkable quality inherited from his late father, Abubakar Audu, when he accepted the outcome of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in April and withdrew his case against the candidate in the state’s interest.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onogwu Mohammed, the governor said the minister-to-be’s political understanding showed his belief in the will of God regarding leadership.

He highlighted the legacy of Audu’s father as a proponent of indivisible Kogi, and expressed confidence that his visitor’s role as minister would further strengthen his father’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s detribalised politicians.

Audu, who flew from Lagos to Abuja for the visit, expressed gratitude to Bello for supporting his ministerial nomination, saying the visit was to show appreciation to the governor for always standing by him.

Commending the governor for his politics of inclusivity and forward-thinking, Audu pledged loyalty and cooperation to advancing state and national development.

He requested the governor’s continued prayers and support to enable him to excel as a minister.  Audu, the ministerial nominee from Kogi, who holds an MBA from University of Oxford and M.Sc in International Securities and Investment Banking from the ICMA Centre of Henley Business School, University of Reading, was Stanbic IBTC’s Executive Director.
