The Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Dr. Abdul Jimoh, has approved a N20,000 monthly salary increment for part-time staff of the school.

The rector, who stated that the gesture is a landmark move to enhance staff welfare, said the development takes immediate effect, starting from the next payment.

The “transformative gesture,” confirmed in a press release by the Director of Continuing Centre Education (CCE), Ahmed Kazeem, was appreciated by the school’s leadership.

Kazeem said, “The salary increment, approved by the polytechnic’s Rector, Dr. Abdul Jimoh, underscores his administration’s commitment to fostering a supportive and rewarding work environment. Over the past year, Dr. Jimoh has spearheaded multiple initiatives aimed at improving staff conditions, including enhanced training programs and infrastructure upgrades.

“This is a testament to Dr. Jimoh’s visionary leadership and empathy. This reflects his unwavering dedication to staff welfare and institutional growth. We recognize the vital role part-time staff play in our academic ecosystem, and this gesture reaffirms their value to our community.”

The staff described the news as a “morale booster” amid the rising socioeconomic standards in the country, noting that: “This uplift will ease financial pressures and motivate us to contribute even more passionately to the institution’s goals.”

Meanwhile, Kwara Poly has pledged to continue reviewing staff welfare policies, with further announcements expected in the coming months.
