Kwara prunes ministries to 16, seeks support
Kwara State Government has reduced the number of ministries to 16 from the 19 it inherited from the immediate past administration.
It explained that the measure was aimed at cutting cost and boost efficiency in service delivery to the people and urged the people the support government’s move.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin, said at a media briefing yesterday that the State Executive Council (SEC) ratified the merger of some ministries and creation of a new one at its first meeting held shortly before Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq presented the 2020 budget.
Afolabi-Oshatimehin’s colleagues from the Ministry Health, Dr. Raji Razaq and his Tertiary Education counterpart, Mrs. Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, joined him at the briefing.
