A chieftain of the Labour Party in Abia State, Maduka Zachary, has been beheaded in his home.
According to reports, Zachary was slaughtered by the assailants who took away his head on Tuesday night in his Uturu hometown, Abia State.
Zachary was the campaign director for the party in Uturu, Abia State and also the campaign director for the member of the House of Representatives representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency, Amobi Ogah.
The Abia State Police spokesperson, Moureen Chinaka, said she had not been briefed about the incident.
However, the Chairman of the Labour Party in Abia State, Ceekay Igara, confirmed the incident.
Igara said that the incident may be linked to insecurity, as Zachary was a strong advocate for fighting insecurity and cultism in the region.
”I have spoken with the Chairman of our party in the LGA and he confirmed it. He said it might not be unconnected with insecurity because the man was strong in the fight against insecurity and cultism in that region,” Igara said.
