Lagos, AFD to boost travel efficiency, connectivity
Lagos State Government and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) have agreed to fund the construction of Mile 2 multi-model interchange hub aimed at improving travel efficiency and boosting connectivity.
This strategic initiative is part of the larger Lagos State transport master plan to create a seamless and efficient transport network across the state and it is being implemented by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).
The interchange hub is expected to enhance the quality of life for millions of residents in the state. In a statement, Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said that the government had arranged alternative routes to minimise disruption for motorists.
He said that all diversion routes would be clearly marked, with signage guiding motorists and officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) stationed along affected routes to assist with traffic flow.
Osiyemi implored all motorists to exercise patience and cooperate on the temporary measures, which according to him, are critical for the timely and successful completion of the project.
