Lagos arrests three suspects for impersonating LASBCA officials
Lagos State Government has arrested three people for parading themselves as officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).
They were also arrested for illegally embarking on development control activities as well as defrauding unsuspecting public.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, who confirmed this development, yesterday, in
Alausa, said the impostors were arrested when they posed as a government demolition gang and illegally pulled down a disputed property in Ogombo, Eti-Osa Local Council area of the state.
Salako said the suspects have since been handed over to the police for prosecution, while one Adeyemi Ajose, believed to be their mastermind, is still at large.
The commissioner assured that the full weight of the law would be made to bear on those caught. He urged residents not to hesitate in performing their civic responsibilities of reporting suspicious activities, particularly in the built environment of Lagos State.
Salako explained that their arrest would send a strong signal to others about government’s determination to rid the sector of all forms of illegality.
He urged members of the public to be wary of fraudsters and to always ascertain the identity of anyone parading as public officials.
