
An Ikoyi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday imposed a fine of ₦30,000 each on 18 persons for reckless waste disposal.

This was revealed by Commissioner, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab in his X handle.
The latest conviction is in continuation of the Lagos State government’s crackdown on environmental offenders.
According to the Commissioner, the court handed the offenders an option of six hours of community service.
On Thursday, 19 October, a Lagos State Magistrate’s court sitting in Oshodi fined 10 residents convicted for environmental offences.

The environmental defaulters were fined various sums of money by Magistrate Daniel Njokwu upon their conviction.
Also, on Wednesday 25 October, 26 people were sent to undergo community service for engaging in reckless waste disposal in areas of Lagos State as imposed by the Court.
A Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Magistrate Court, sitting in Ikoyi, has also given them the option of a ₦30,000 fine per person.
