Lagos forensic centre will help in criminal cases, says CP

Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Zubairu Muazu, has said that the state-of-the-art Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre (LSD&FC) will help the police in the investigation and quick resolution of criminal cases.

Muazu said during his tour of the centre yesterday that it was heartwarming to have Lagos forensic centre will help in criminal cases, says CPin the state such facility used in advanced countries.

He reiterated that the state’s police command would work with the centre to scientifically combat crime.

Managing consultant, LSD&FC, Dr. Richard Somiari,who took the CP round the facility, explained that the centre had the technology and expertise to support all the DNA test needs of Lagos, including consultation on old cases, crime scene processing, evidence collection, serological screening for blood, semen and saliva, DNA analysis, mass disaster victim identification and old case files review.

He noted that the important task before the centre was the development and management of the proposed LagosState DNA Database (LSDD).

Meanwhile, human rights activist, Mr Ebun-OluAdegboruwa, has urged governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos to do his best to preserve the Ikoyi CancerTreatment Centre, which was recently sealed by the LagosState Physical PlanningAuthority.

Conceived by Messrs. KingsCounty Property InvestmentCompany Limited, the centre is presently 90 per cent completed before the state agents sealed up the premises on Wednesday.
