Lagos State Government has implored residents of the state and other stakeholders on the need to advocate and implement policies that support the circular economy because of its impact on the environment and economy.

The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who stated this, yesterday, during the close-out event of the ‘Leave No One Behind Initiative,’ said: “Let us remember that inclusivity and sustainability are not mere buzzwords but the cornerstones of a thriving society. Let us pledge to continue working together to build a world where everyone, regardless of background or circumstances, has the opportunity to succeed and prosper.

“We must continue to invest in education and skills development for marginalised communities. And we must continue to strive for a world where no one is left behind.”

The governor commended the initiative with plans to empower 20,000 girls and women on transforming waste to wealth.

Meanwhile, Oshodi said that the mission was driven by the belief that wealth creation, job creation, and zero carbon emission could be achieved through innovative circular economy practices.

In another development, to increase compliance, promote transparency, efficient service delivery and grow revenue for developmental projects, Lagos State government has concluded plans to launch Lagos Revenue Portal (LRP) that would provide a one-stop shop for payment of taxes and bills of the state government.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Tax and Revenue, Opeyemi Ogungbo, who stated this during a media briefing, yesterday, said that Sanwo-Olu would unveil the revenue portal on August 15, 2024, adding that the portal will continue to evolve and impact the state’s revenue administration system.

Besides, Ogungbo said that the proposed launch of the portal, which is in line with the administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda, would improve the quality of life for Lagos residents.
