Lagos State Police Command, yesterday, confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the death of a bartender, Destiny Ifeanyichukwu, at Club 183 sports and lounge, 183, Ago Palace Way, Lagos.

Ifeanyichukwu was allegedly beaten to death by owner of the club and his brother over theft allegations.

Don-V, who runs the club reportedly accused the bartender of stealing DJ mixer equipment, after which he involved military men.

In a video, Destiny was seen tied and flogged by military officers while pleading for his life.

It was said that Destiny at that point collapsed and fell into a coma before taking his last breath.

When The Guardian visited the venue of the club yesterday, both the security guard and shop owners in the plaza kept tight lips over the matter.

Also, the usual boisterous atmosphere of the Club was absent.

Workers, including a security guard, who were approached, claimed they were new on the job and don’t know the deceased.

Speaking with The Guardian, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, said Emmanuel Gabriel, who is a worker in the club, was arrested in connection with the death of the young man.

Asked about the owner of the club, he said: “We are not following social media narration, I don’t know about any brother. An investigation has commenced, and we have taken everything that is of evidential value. “We will examine the body, watch CCTV, speak with witnesses and come out with a report.”
