NNPC Warns of Recruitment Scam Alert

Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL)

Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), has warned the public against fraudulent recruitment schemes falsely claiming to offer jobs within the organisation.

In a statement issued on Sunday, NNPC Ltd said it was not currently conducting any recruitment exercise and urged job seekers to disregard advertisements, messages or websites offering employment opportunities in exchange for money.

“The general public is hereby informed that NNPC Limited is not currently advertising any recruitment opportunities,” the company said. “Whenever recruitment is conducted, it will be announced on our official website and verified social media handles.”

The warning comes amid a rise in online scams targeting unemployed Nigerians seeking opportunities in the country’s oil and gas sector. Fraudsters often use fake websites, social media accounts and messaging platforms to solicit payments for non-existent jobs.

NNPC advised members of the public to verify all recruitment information through its official communication channels and cautioned applicants never to pay fees for employment processing, interviews or training.

The company last concluded a nationwide recruitment exercise in early 2025, describing the process as transparent and merit-based.

Authorities have repeatedly warned that employment scams remain one of the most common forms of cyber fraud in Nigeria, with criminals exploiting high youth unemployment rates to deceive job seekers.

NNPC urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious recruitment offers to relevant law enforcement agencies.
