The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) has allayed the fear of Lagosians over the trending viral video about pipeline vandalism around the Aboru area of Ipaja, Lagos, describing it as a false alarm.

LSFRS director Margaret Adeseye in a statement urged residents to disregard the video.

In the video, a male voiceover was alerting the authorities of the state to come to the community’s rescue in averting the imminent danger if the vandalism results in a fire incident.

Adeseye said the Service had initially mobilised its firefighters to the reported address but all efforts made to trace the incident proved abortive as such incident did not happen in that area as claimed in the viral video.

She said that on further investigation on the matter, it was discovered that the trending video is of an old incident that had happened in the area on 30th October 2020.

Adeseye urged the general public to ignore the trending video and go about their normal activities without fear.
