Residents of Ilasamaja in Isolo area of Lagos State alongside members of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) yesterday led a peaceful march to the Lagos State government in Alausa, Ikeja to protest against the bad state of their roads and the knotty issue of outrageous bills given to the community by Ikeja Electric Plc.

In unison, they called on the state government to come to their rescue, lamenting that the problem is causing huge damage to their lives and property.

Lamenting their ordeals, one of the residents, Mr. Elobenze Ogochukwu, said the issue has lingered for a long time and they couldn’t endure it any longer.

“We want a government that will make sure Ilasa residents get what we deserve. We have not gotten our entitled dividend of democracy and we did all we could to vote this government during the last election with the promise of development coming to our community, but what did we get in return? Bad roads and ridiculous electricity bills. We say no to bad roads and crazy bills.”
