Lagos social worker rescues abandoned newborn
A social worker attached to a hospital in Lagos State has rescued a day-old baby boy in the Surulere area of the state.
The baby was sighted and rescued on Monday, April 15, at about 4:00.p.m.
However, the hospital reported the incident, yesterday, to the Surulere Police Division.
Confirming the development, spokesperson for Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the baby boy was seen inside a polythene bag, abandoned by an unknown person(s) at Alhaji Masha road, Surulere, Lagos.
Hundeyin said: “The baby was evacuated and rushed to Randle General Hospital, Surulere, Lagos and is responding to treatment.
“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and a team from the family support unit visited the scene of the incident, while investigation is ongoing.”
