• Begins accelerated digital literacy training for 1,000 workers
• LASPEC engages retirees, targets seamless pension processing
Lagos State Government, yesterday, reiterated its commitment to not only making the state civil servants digitally literate but also globally competitive.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishment and Training, Olubusola Abidakun, disclosed this during the commencement of a four-day accelerated digital literacy training certification programme for 1,000 public servants in the state.
She emphasised that the workshop is a direct response to the ministry’s mandate on capacity development, noting that the programme focuses on IC3 certification and META associate level certification, ensuring that the state’s workforce is not only digitally literate but also globally competitive.
The permanent secretary further stated that the training, scheduled to take place at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo, would be conducted in four intensive batches spanning from Monday, April 27 to Thursday, May 21, 2026.
In another development, the Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC) has urged public servants approaching retirement to ensure timely and accurate documentation, warning that delays in paperwork remain a major cause of challenges in accessing retirement benefits
Director-General of LASPEC, Babalola Obilana, gave the advice, yesterday, during the 30th pre-retirement documentation seminar for prospective retirees in the Lagos State Public Service, in Lagos.
Obilana said the seminar was part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to prepare workers for a seamless transition from active service into retirement, noting that many retirees encounter avoidable setbacks due to poor planning and lack of adequate information.
In his remark, the state’s Head of Service, Olabode Agoro, commended LASPEC for sustaining the pre-retirement seminar initiative, describing it as a vital platform for preparing public servants for life after service.
Agoro, therefore, urged participants to take advantage of the seminar, emphasising that early planning remains key to a stress-free retirement.
