Commissions block of classrooms, other facilities in three schools
Lagos State Government, yesterday, reiterated its commitment to improving educational infrastructure across the state, including ensuring that students learn in a conducive environment equipped with modern facilities.
Sanwo-Olu, who stated this, yesterday, during the commissioning of modern block of classrooms, mini football pitch and a multi-purpose sports court at Keme Balogun Junior and Senior College, said that part of the duties of government is to inspire parents to prioritise their children’s education, as well as encourage students to dream bigger.
He said that the commissioning of the school buildings and facilities is a celebration of a transformative investment in the future of the community.
The governor said that by investing in the schools, the government is investing in the socio-economic fabric of the community.
He maintained that the school reconstruction also sends a powerful message to the community that education matters, that the children matter, and that their future is worth investing in.
“We want to thank you for ensuring that there are no delay in school projects. We will continue to ensure that we not only complete school buildings but also equip them with everything they need to meet the goals of our administration,” he said.
“We also appreciate the efforts of teachers and parents in shaping the future of the children,” he said.
He, therefore, encouraged students to strive for academic excellence, charging them to achieve a 90 per cent success rate in their West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examinations.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, who delivered the welcome address, described the commissioning as part of a broader state-wide initiative aimed at enhancing educational standards in the state.
He lauded the governor’s unwavering commitment to education, stating that the new infrastructure would significantly improve students’ learning experiences.
