Lassa fever kills one in Bauchi, two others placed on surveilance
Fresh Lassa fever outbreak in Bauchi State has claimed the life of one person, while two patients have been hospitalised for observation and treatment.
Pharmacist Ibrahim Gamawa, head of Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Agency, who confirmed the cases in Bauchi, yesterday, disclosed that the victim from Dul ward in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Council died from the fever on his way to hospital.
Gamawa said the other two suspected cases were from Alkaleri Local Government and Liman Katagum in Bauchi Local Government Council.
He pointed out that the state ministry of health is collaborating with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) to handle Lassa fever cases as was done in the past.
The Pharmacist explained that the State Government and the Federal Ministry of Health have been in constant liaison, monitoring the situation since the resurgence of Lassa Fever.
