LASTMA officer Lateef Kabir rewarded with a cash gift of N100,000 for service to community.

A Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) official, Lateef Kabir was rewarded with a cash gift of N100,000 for his uncommon act carried out to help ease traffic congestion.

Kabir got the cash gift on Thursday, 27 April from one Chief Ajayi Abdul Lateef Adekunle.

Those in attendance during the cash presentation include LASTMA Commander Popoola Olushola, Emmanuel Olasunkanmi, Zonal Head Zone 11 Anthony and Bakare Sulaiman, Head of Operations Zone 11 Anthony.

Kabir was spotted removing flood water with his bare hands due to the heavy downpour on Sunday, 23rd April at Odo Iya-Alaro Bridge inward Ojota area of Lagos.

His act was posted on social media and drew commendations from many.

Speaking at the presentation of the cash gift, LASTMA spokesman Adebayo Taofiq commended Adekunle for his kind gesture.

Taofiq urged motorists, particularly commercial bus drivers to always obey traffic personnel on duty to avoid traffic bottlenecks.

Speaking on the cash reward the recipient, Kabir, said he was only doing his job and never knew his actions would be rewarded.

“I was just doing my job by ensuring free flow of traffic under heavy rain on that particular day without knowing that all eyes were on me.”
