LAWGAN mourns Nigerian Law School student

The Law Graduates Association of Nigeria (LAWGAN)

The Law Graduates Association of Nigeria (LAWGAN) has expressed deep sadness over the death of Faith Alayande, a student of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, who reportedly died after falling from a four-storey building at the institution.

In a statement signed by its President, Kayode Bello, and Public Relations Officer, Ojo Clement, LAWGAN described the incident as a painful loss to the legal community and extended its condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, colleagues, classmates and the wider Nigerian legal profession.

The association urged members of the public to refrain from circulating unverified information, noting that investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

LAWGAN also called for a thorough investigation by the relevant authorities to determine what led to the student’s death.

While awaiting the outcome of the investigation, the association urged members of the legal community, students and the public to pay greater attention to emotional and mental wellbeing, stressing that difficult circumstances should not leave anyone feeling alone or without support.

It urged anyone facing emotional, academic, financial, professional or personal challenges to seek assistance from trusted family members, friends, colleagues, mentors, religious leaders or appropriate professionals.

According to the association, seeking help in times of difficulty should not be regarded as a sign of weakness, but as an important step towards overcoming challenging circumstances.

LAWGAN also charged members of the legal profession and aspiring lawyers to look out for one another, show compassion and help create an environment in which people feel able to speak about their struggles and seek support.

The association prayed for the repose of Alayande’s soul and for God to grant her family the strength to bear the loss.
