Lawmaker pledges support for gaming industry, calls for regulation

The gaming industry in Nigeria is set to receive a major boost as a member representing the Idemili North/Idemili South Federal Constituency of Anambra State, Uchenna Harris Okonkwo has reaffirmed his commitment to work for the establishment of a regulatory framework that will support indigenous businesses in the sector.

The legislator pledged to collaborate with government agencies to ensure that gaming platforms not only comply with regulations but also receive the necessary backing to succeed both locally and globally.

Speaking at the launch of T2Bet, a new gaming platform over the weekend, Hon. Okonkwo highlighted the potential of such platforms to bring economic value to the country while empowering the youth.

He stressed that the gaming industry extends far beyond just betting and gaming, highlighting the ecosystem of professionals involved, such as developers, regulatory experts, and other ancillary services.

The lawmaker urged young Nigerians to take advantage of the growth in the sector, saying, “There’s room for growth not just in gaming but in all the ancillary services that support platforms like this.”

Okonkwo also stressed the job creation potential of such platforms.
