Ondo and Oyo state governors, Seyi Makinde and Rotimi Akeredolu have visited the scene of ethnic conflict in Sasha community, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The two governors met with the leaders of the Yoruba and Hausa communities and appealed to them to live in unity.

Several people reportedly died in a clash after a Yoruba cobbler was stabbed by a Hausa cart pusher in the market, hence, degenerating into an ethnic conflict

Makinde on Saturday imposed an indefinite curfew in the area on Saturday.

During his visit to the scene of the clash, Makinde said he will give palliatives to those whose wares were affected during the crisis.

“You have been living together peacefully and all I am pleading to you is, no matter what is making anyone angry, we will solve it with patience,” Makinde said.

“One thing is, if you allow those who don’t have anything to lose here to blow this matter out of proportion, no one will be able to say where the crisis will end. By the grace of God, I pray we don’t lose any more lives,” he added.

In the same vein, Akeredolu, who was in the state on behalf of the South West Governors, said peace must be allowed to reign.

“We have been living together for a very long time and this is not the time to start fighting ourselves. So, let us consider that,” he said.

“There are some things that could be making us angry but don’t let us look at that because things cannot be like this forever.”
