Makinde signs N684b 2025 budget into law

Osun Assembly approves N427.7b Appropriation Bill

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, yesterday, signed into law, the N684 billion 2025 Appropriation Bill. Makinde, while signing the budget into law at the Executive Chamber, Governor’s Office, Agodi, Ibadan, said that all critical stakeholders, including the people of Oyo, were adequately carried along from the inception till the end of the budget process.

The governor said that the new N80,000 minimum wage had been captured in the budget and its implementation would commence next year in January. He noted that the collaboration among the three tiers of government had continually helped the progress of the state, adding that the budget process, which began in October this year, targets 80 per cent performance, including transforming education, infrastructure, healthcare, and other sectors.

The governor, however, expressed optimism that the budget would foster growth, enhance infrastructure, and improve the livelihood of residents. Earlier, the Speaker, who described the 2025 budget as a development blueprint, promised further positive legislative performance for the state.

RELATEDLY, the Osun State House of Assembly, yesterday, officially passed the N427.7 billion 2025 Appropriation Bill of the state. This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu.

According to the statement, the approval followed the presentation of a report by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, led by its Chairman, Olumide Fatunmise.

The statement stated: “During the plenary, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, commended the committee members and other lawmakers for their diligent efforts in ensuring a thorough review and timely passage of the bill.

“He emphasised that the budget prioritises key sectors, such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, tourism, and security, aiming to achieve meaningful outcomes that will enhance the lives of citizens.”
