Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Dr. Abubakar Malami, has yet to declare intention to contest any elective office in 2023.

The Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Dr. Umar Gwandu, stated, yesterday, in Abuja that the clarification became necessary in view of a fabricated publication in some sections of the media.

Gwandu said the declaration to contest a political position was never a hidden affair or clandestine operation that could be reported as a scoop by the media.

According to him, the report was triggered by curiosity and eagerness by followers and loyalists. He added: “A video being circulated as the purported declaration was mischievously translated with fabricated insertions and interpolations that cannot, in spirit and context, establish the misinformation circulated.”

He, however, thanked the supporters of the minister and the general public for expressing their interest, adding that at the appropriate time, they would hear from the horse’s mouth in full glare of the media, stakeholders, like-minds, party faithful and his teeming supporters.
