Man, 20, defies 9-year-old in Lagos

Detectives at the Akodo Police Division, Lagos State, have arrested one Ayo Adenupebi, a resident of Ise town, Akodo, for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old, name withheld, who lives in the same area with the suspects.

The incident was reported after the victim’ s elder sister noticed bloodstains on her thigh at about 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
When questioned, the victim alleged that the suspect, aged 20, sexually assaulted her and warned her against informing anyone.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, In a statement, yesterday, said following the report at the Akodo Police Division by the victim’s father, detectives immediately arrested the suspect, which led to his confession to the crime upon interrogation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, he said, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
“The CP condemned this criminal act and admonished parents and guardians to keep an eye on their wards, particularly the female ones to avoid being sexually violated by shameless and irresponsible men, preying on innocent female victims in the neighbourhood,” he said.
Meanwhile, the victim has been taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
