Man commits suicide in Ibadan, after climbing bank mast


A yet-to-be-identified man has reportedly killed himself early morning yesterday, after climbing a mast belonging to Wema Bank located at Elewure junction, along Sango/UI road, Ibadan, Oyo State. 

An eyewitness, Tosin Alabi who spoke to journalists on the incident, said the deceased scaled through the fence of the bank before climbing the mast and eventually fell on the roof of the bank.

“He came in through the back fence of the bank and climbed the mast, he used almost 30 minutes before he eventually fell on the roof of the bank,” he said. 


One of the friends of the deceased who preferred anonymity said that his friend was not a mad person as some people insinuated, saying what happened to him was not ordinary.

The mother of the deceased, Mrs. Alaba said that her son was not mad, noting that what made him to killed himself was strange.

“We came from night vigil and after we finished eating our breakfast, we started looking for him. Unknown to us that he had gone out to kill himself. My son is not mad as some people insinuated, but what made him to kill himself was not understandable,” she said. 

Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gbenga Fadeyi told The Guardian that the identity of the deceased was yet to be known.
