StabUMUAHIA, the Abia State capital was shaken Tuesday following the report that one Mr. Tochukwu Ogbonna, aged below 30, had stabbed his mother at night and set himself and their house ablaze.

He died in the inferno. The incident occurred at their residence on No. 12, Bonny Street, Umuahia. His mother, who was taken to the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia, it was gathered, is responding to treatment.

Their co-tenant who pleaded anonymity said the incident occurred about 11.00p.m. on Tuesday when a hot argument ensued between Tochukwu and his mother, which prompted him to stab his mother with a knife and thereafter killed their dog with the same knife. Tochukwu was described by a neighbour as a known drug addict, who “terrorised his family members and the entire neighborhood.”
