Martins made the remark, yesterday, during the commissioning of the Lumen Christi TV Retreat and Media Centre, Lekki, Lagos.
The Cleric, who noted that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration won election based on promises to end insecurity, said it is unfortunate that Nigerians feel a lot more unsecured now than before.
Martins, who spoke against the backdrop of the recent attacks in Kaduna where many people lost their lives and others kidnapped by the bandits, said: “We now have a situation where bandits attack military formations with boldness. It is obvious the situation is getting out of hand. It is clear that government is not doing enough at all. We need to continue to challenge them.
He recalled that the Catholic Bishops Conference had advised the president that if he is not in a position to lead the administration to secure Nigerians, he should resign and let someone else take on the responsibilities.
The cleric also advised Nigerians to listen carefully to politicians coming out with campaign promises as 2023 general elections draw near, saying the country cannot afford to allow those with empty promises to lead anymore.
The centre, which was commissioned yesterday, is the brainchild of Sir Prince Soji Robert Olagunju, the Chairman and Founder of the Lumen Christi Television Network.
Speaking with newsmen at the event, Olagunju said the Media Centre will work in collaboration and affiliation with the Mass Communication Department of Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos, while the Retreat Centre will be available for workshops, seminars, retreats, tourism, conferences for Bishops, Priests/Religious, lay organisations, groups and individuals.
