Maulid: Zamfara govt urges Islamic scholars to intensify prayers for peace

The Zamfara State Government has called on Islamic scholars to intensify prayers for peace and divine intervention in the state and across the country during this year’s Maulid celebrations.

The Acting Governor, Malam Mani Mummuni Masamar Mudi, made the appeal on Thursday night while attending Maulid celebrations at several Zawiyya schools within the Kaura Namoda Emirate Council.

He also urged scholars and residents to pray for the exposure of anyone supporting or profiting from banditry.

“Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration has given utmost priority to the fight against insecurity. It is, therefore, important for citizens to intensify prayers for the success of this administration in that direction,” he said.

Mudi reiterated the state government’s stance against negotiating with bandits, insisting they cannot be trusted and describing their actions as an attempt to turn criminality into a business venture.

During the visits, the Acting Governor donated ₦3.5 million to the Zawiyya schools visited, in addition to cows and food items earlier provided by the state government to support a smooth Maulid celebration.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Affairs, Malam Bello Almufti, recited verses from the Holy Qur’an and Hadith, highlighting the mercy and wisdom bestowed upon humanity through the coming of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Responding on behalf of the schools, the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Sarkin Kiyawa Dr. Sanusi Mohammed Ahmad Asha, expressed gratitude to the Acting Governor and his entourage for joining the midnight Maulid celebrations.

The schools visited include Zawiyar Malam Babba, Zawiyar Shehu Kaya, Zawiyar Lungun Malamai, Makarantar Malam Yahaya, Gangaren Makaranta, and Kambarawa, among others.
The Acting Governor was accompanied by the State Commissioner for Housing, Alhaji Nasir Ibrahim Zurmi; the State PDP Chairman, Dr. Jamilu Jibo Magayaki Kaura; and other top government officials. (edited)
