Mbah preaches love at Christmas

Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has urged Nigerians to live in love, peace and togetherness to advance the country.
This came as he reaffirmed his dedication to creating a new Enugu State, stressing that his goals include leading a state where love, peace and unity are paramount, in addition to eradicating poverty and growing the state’s economy to $30 billion.
Mbah made the call while delivering his Christmas goodwill message to people of the state and Nigerians, reminding the Christian faithful and the nation that the true meaning of Christmas is love, the reason God sent His only begotten Son to be born as a man for the redemption of humankind.
He said: “Love is the reason for Christmas, as we celebrate the height of love wherein God sent His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to be born as man for our salvation.
“Thus, as we commemorate His birth, let us likewise imbibe and exemplify the values of love, peace, harmony, selflessness, and being our brother’s keeper, as Christ had shown us by example.”
“We can only create the Enugu State of our dreams and advance the country by sincerely pursuing these virtues.”
Mbah wished the Christian faithful and the nation a merry Christmas.
Similarly, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has felicitated with Edo people and Nigerians on the celebration of Christmas.
In a statement, the governor said: “I heartily celebrate with all Edo people, at home and in the Diaspora, as we mark this beautiful season of Christmas.
“Christmas presents an opportunity to show care and love, as well as reflect on the life and teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“As we celebrate with our friends, relatives and neighbours, we must keep the significance of the season in mind. Let us spread the message of unity, love, sacrifice and tolerance.”
The governor wished all a Merry Christmas and a season filled with love, peace and goodwill.
