Melaye loses Kogi West PDP ticket to Yusuf
Senator Dino Melaye has lost the Kogi West senatorial district ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 election to House of Representatives member, Tajudeen Yusuf.
At the rerun in Kabba, yesterday, Yusuf, who represents Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency, polled 163 against Melaye’s 99 delegate votes.
They had polled 88 each at the first ballot on Monday, in which Samuel Aro got 71 votes.
Conceding defeat, Melaye stated on his verified Facebook page: “The primary has been fought and won. I congratulate Yusuf and thank all those who voted for me on the first and second ballots.”
In Kogi East, a former banker, Victor Adoji, won the PDP senatorial ticket.
Meanwhile, Sani Ogembe emerged as the candidate for Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal constituency, amid protest by another aspirant, MomohJimoh Lawal.
