MIC holds pre-Ramadan lecture, free medical checkup

Islam preaches peace, love and unity amongst the people and should not be associated with violence and destruction of lives and properties.

A religious organisation, Misbaudeen Islamic Centre (MIC), holds the 7th edition of its yearly pre-Ramadan lecture tomorrow at Jubril Martins Memorial High School, Iloro-Agege, Lagos.

The lecture, scheduled to start at 9am, under the chairmanship of Prof. Kamil Oloso of University of Ibadan.

According to the Chief Host and Managing Director, Silver Feeds Limited, Alhaji Musbaudeen Bolarinwa, the free medical screening is designed to ensure Muslims are sound, health wise, to undertake the one-month spiritual journey.

The Chief Imam of University of Lagos Muslim Community, Associate Professor Ismail Musa, would deliver a lecture on ‘Achieving socio-political development through moral re-orientation: Islamic perspectives,’ while Ustaz Sulaiman Adangba would speak on ‘The efficacy of the glorious Quran as a Book of life.’

Senior Assistant Registrar and Imam, Yaba College of Technology, Ustaz Saeed Salman, is expected to deliver another lecture, titled, ‘Maximising the month of Ramadan for here and hereafter.’

Bolarinwa urged Muslims to take advantage of the lecture to prepare themselves spiritually, emotionally, physically and health-wise for the coming Ramadan, saying the theme has been carefully chosen in view of the developments and challenges in our society.

He added that the Pre-Ramadan lecture is to remind and guide Muslims on the significance of the holy month and prepare them towards having a perfect and acceptable fasting experience during the glorious month, in line with the dictates of the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Mahammed (SAW).
