Militants bomb another pipeline in Delta
The Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate (NDGJM) yesterday claimed it blew up an oil pipeline belonging to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) in Delta State.
The group said the pipeline was bombed around 1a.m yesterday. The attack came a few days after the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), another militant group, resumed attacks on oil installations, citing the impasse in its dialogue with the Federal Government as the reason for the renewing of hostilities.
NDA declared a ceasefire in August following talks with the government, but it eventually breached the truce.Other militant groups have since emerged and one of them is NDGJM.
The spokesman of the militants, Gen. Aldo Agbalaja said in a statement that the attack was meant to “punish the multinational firms and the Nigerian Army, who have teamed up to take the oil resources by force.”
The NDGJM had warned recently that it would soon make “a big statement.”Agbalaja said: “As a mark of our commitment to a just cause and to prove to the wicked and ungrateful multinational oil companies and theirv Nigerian military allies, the Opudo Strike Team of the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, at about 0100hour today September 29, 2016, bombed the Unenurhie-Evwreni delivery line in Ughelli South/North respectively operated by NPDC.”
The statement threatened to end the companies’ operations, maintaining that no amount of military protection or presence could stop their sabotage of the oil facilities.
