How troops repelled attack on Yobe gov’s convoy, by DHQs
The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in the North East has hit the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, killing many of them in Marte Local Council of Borno State.
The Guardian gathered that the airstrikes were unleashed on November 18, 2023 to prevent the terrorists, who were travelling in canoes at Baranga village, on the shores of Lake Chad, from fishing in the main waters of the lake.
Sources in Maiduguri stated that it was an opportunity of a reconnaissance mission to strike the targeted terrorists in canoes. A counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed, yesterday, that a good number of terrorists were spotted in the canoes, on an armed reconnaissance mission to attack military posts.
On how the terrorists met their waterloo, he said: “The target was engaged and eliminated scores of the terrorists travelling in canoes.”
Subsequently, the Air Force also engaged and destroyed structures, including some of the terrorists’ logistics warehouses.
According to military sources, the aerial bombardments are in continuation of the air offensive against terror elements in the North East states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.
