Minister, others laud Adebayo’s impact on housing industry in Africa
‘We’ve secured N100b off-takers guarantee for housing’
Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has praised the Executive Director of the Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN), Festus Adebayo, for his unwavering dedication to affordable housing advocacy and his impactful contributions to the housing industry in Africa.
He spoke, yesterday, during the Africa Housing Awards 2024 ceremony in Abuja.
Dangiwa noted that through initiatives, such as the Africa Housing Awards, Adebayo has inspired industry-wide collaboration and fostered a new wave of optimism for housing development in Nigeria.
Also, former Minister of Mines and Solid Minerals and chairman of the occasion, Musa Sada, lauded Adebayo’s efforts, describing him as a transformative leader in the housing sector.
Similarly, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Housing and Habitat, Abdulmumin Jibrin, described Adebayo as a workaholic, forthright, and courageous advocate whose passion for affordable housing has galvanised stakeholders.
IN another development, the Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Shehu Osidi, has said that they have partnered with other bodies to secure N100 billion off-takers guarantee for affordable housing and support Nigerians to achieve their homeownership aspirations.
Osidi gave the hint during the event.
He said that the amount would facilitate the development of the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates across Nigeria beginning from the housing project in Karsana, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He also stated that they are introducing new products like Rent Assistance, Non-Interest Mortgage and Diaspora National Housing Fund Mortgage, among others.
