‘More private hospitals, panacea for improved health sector’

The federal and state governments have been implored to encourage and support the establishment of private hospitals in the country to complement the efforts of the state-owned ones.

Besides, government at all levels must join hands to assist medical practitioners to fight against quacks in the medical profession.

Chairman of Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter, Dr. Rabiu Kusimo, who spoke yesterday at the association’s 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Abeokuta, stated that one of the major factors working against increased private hospitals in the country is imposition of multiple taxation by the government and pleaded that urgent steps should be taken to check it.
