Mother of three needs N3.5m for brain tumour
A mother of three children, Modupeore Ogunrinola, has sent a Save-My-Soul call to Nigerians, asking financial assistance for surgery, following a brain tumour which has become cancerous.
Ogunrinola, aged 40, who was diagnosed with the condition in 2020, said the cancerous tumour has advanced to stage four.
The Guardian learnt that she had an operation at Molly Specialist Hospital, Idi Ape, Ibadan, on September 20, 2020, where all her savings and family’s wealth were spent.
The surgery was confirmed successful and she did not exhibit any negative aftermath. A few days later she was discharged.
She said: “Thereafter, I was recommended for radiotherapy, which I had at University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan. I was recuperating and regaining my health progressively. However, towards the end of 2022, I was not getting better and started noticing signs of paralysis on my left leg and left hand. After some time, I started feeling dull and bored to the extent that I was regularly feeling unconscious.
“I was taken back to my doctor who immediately directed that I should go for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examination. The result came out and alas, the growth of the tumour had returned. And this time, it came with fluid in the brain.”
Ogunrinola said she was taken to Redeemers Health Centre, Bodija, Ibadan, where she spent over 30 days before she was referred to the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority and Lagos University Teaching Hospital Cancer Centre (NSIA-LUTH), Lagos, for emergency treatment.
According to a medical report issued by LUTH, Ogunrinola would need to undergo several chemotherapies (N516,000), MRI (N200,000), radiotherapy (N1,784,900) Computed Tomography (CT) Scans, drugs and other consumables, totalling N3.5 million.
