Nasarawa records two new cases of coronavirus

Two new persons have tested positive to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Nasarawa State 72 hours after the index case was reported.
Governor Abdullahi Sule disclosed this at a press briefing at the Government House, Lafia, yesterday.

According to Sule, the two new cases, who are ladies, are among the 40 persons from Lagos quarantined at the state polytechnic, Lafia since the past three weeks.

“We took 10 samples of the 40 persons quarantined at the state polytechnic, Lafia, and two tested positive for the virus, but we are still keeping the remaining eight pending permission to release them,” Sule said.

The governor explained that the two cases had been transferred to the Dalhatu Arafat Specialist Hospital in Lafia for treatment. He, however, hinted that only 100 samples so far had been collected and sent from the state for testing.

Blaming the incursion of the disease into the state on failure of security operatives to enforce movement restriction into the state, he appealed to security agents to the enforcement of the restriction order, particularly at the state’s entry points, seriously.
