‘NASS investigating alleged revocation of late Ogbebor’s FCT property’
The Labour Party (LP) lawmaker representing Edo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Neda Imasuen, yesterday, said the Senate leadership had begun an investigation into the allegations by rights activist, Chief Rita Lori-Ogbebor, over the revocation of ownership of a property belonging to her late husband, Col. Paul Ogbebor (rtd), in Abuja.
Addressing newsmen in Benin City, Imasuen, who is Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, assured the Ogbebor family of swift resolution of the matter.
The legislator said a committee had been raised to investigate the allegations against the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Imasuen, who expressed dissatisfaction with the way and manner the family handled the matter, said he was never contacted. The senator said he was surprised to have heard the matter first on national television, even though his office was yet to be petitioned on the matter. He explained that what was expected of the Ogbebors was a petition or even a visit to his office to inform him of the alleged revocation.
“I only heard on the TV, Chief Rita Lori-Ogbebor screaming and talking agitatively about someone taking over her late husband’s property,” he said.
