The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has called for greater recognition of the contributions of fathers to nation-building, describing them as critical pillars of families and society whose sacrifices often go unnoticed.
In a message to mark Father’s Day 2026, the lawmaker paid tribute to fathers and father figures across Nigeria and beyond, commending their dedication to raising children, sustaining families, and promoting social stability.
She noted that fathers play indispensable roles in shaping the moral and social values of future generations through their leadership, guidance, discipline, and commitment to family responsibilities.
According to her, the influence of responsible fathers extends beyond the home and contributes significantly to national development.
“On this special Father’s Day, I celebrate all fathers and father figures whose steadfast commitment, love, and sacrifices continue to strengthen our families and communities. Fathers are truly the unsung heroes of our society. Their tireless efforts, resilience, and devotion deserve our deepest appreciation,” she said.
Natasha stressed that responsible fatherhood remains a key component of nation-building, noting that the values fathers instill in their children help shape responsible citizens and foster a peaceful and prosperous society.
“A father’s wisdom, discipline and example leave a lasting impact on the lives of children. Through their sacrifices and guidance, fathers nurture dreams, build character, and inspire hope. Their influence extends beyond the home and contributes significantly to the moral fabric of our society,” she added.
The senator urged fathers to remain steadfast in their responsibilities and continue serving as positive role models, while encouraging young people to embrace virtues such as integrity, hard work, humility, and compassion.
She called on families, communities, and the wider society to acknowledge and celebrate the invaluable contributions of fathers, emphasizing that strong families remain the foundation of sustainable national development.
“Today, I salute every father in Kogi Central, Kogi State and across Nigeria. Your sacrifices may not always receive public recognition, but they are deeply appreciated.
Thank you for the countless ways you provide, protect, mentor, and support your families. May God reward your labour abundantly,” she stated.
