The event was hosted by the vivacious Eku. Edewor, who served as the event’s host, while DJ Consequence kept the vibes alive with his hit music selections.
A highlight of the evening was the fireside chat between NBA Africa VP and Country Head of Nigeria, Gbemisola Abudu, and Osadebe. They engaged in a thought-provoking discussion about the significance of collaboration and how individuals from various backgrounds can unite through basketball.
In an interview with the Guardian Nigeria, Osadebe explained the inspiration behind the theme ‘Passing, Building and Victory’, saying, “This collaboration arose from the core values of basketball, where sports, in general, revolve around teamwork. I firmly believe that for a community to achieve greatness, everyone must come together and collaborate.”
“Therefore, it was crucial to create a collaboration that emphasised this notion, where passing allows you to build a team and ultimately achieve victory.” Osadebe said.

Abudu also echoed Osadebe’s sentiments, stating that the NBA is a pioneer of fashion, music, and art and that Nigeria’s vibrant culture and rich heritage make it a natural partner for such collaborations.
“This is why we launched the NBA Meets Culture platform, with the NBA Meets Art event serving as the cornerstone.”
The NBA Meets Art 23 event was a true testament to the power of art and sports to bring people together. It showcased the NBA’s commitment to creative collaborations and its dedication to fostering positive change in the communities it serves.
