•Demands Appointment Of Chief Judge
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Owerri branch, has suspended appearance at the Justice Orjiakor block of the Justice Oputa High Court complex, located off Port Harcourt Road, Owerri.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Publicity Secretary of the association, Franklin Amandi.
It also demanded the appointment of a Chief Judge in the state as the position has been vacant for three months now.
The Chairman of the NBA, Owerri branch, Chief Chris Ihentuge, had a few weeks ago drawn the attention of the governor to the state of the building and he promised to look into it, but unfortunately nothing has been done.
“The chairman in his address stated that we cannot afford to risk our lives all in a bid to attend to our duties as lawyers and called for suspension of appearance in the said block for at least one week. Judges sitting at the said block were also accordingly informed,” the statement noted.
