The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has summoned Kenya Airways over the alleged inhuman treatment of Nigerian passengers in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital.
This was after the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Tunde Moshood, announced the treatment a Nigerian passenger was subjected to by the airline staff.
In a post on X, Moshood said, “Our attention has been drawn to several cases of inhuman treatments of Nigerian passengers in Nairobi by @KenyaAirways. A case of Ms. Omisore G. who flew from Manchester to Lagos, connecting-Man-CDG-NBO-LOS, only to be denied boarding in Nairobi on the 2nd leg of the same ticket.”
Reacting, Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, NCAA, Michael Achimugu, faulted the passenger for unruly behavior and blamed the airline’s staff for unprofessionalism.
“There is no excuse for unruly passenger behaviour. The airline staff are unprofessional. The airline MUST bear responsibility for what has happened to this passenger,” he said.
“The NCAA refers @KenyaAirways to Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023 and has summoned the airline to its headquarters in Abuja today, Monday, February 3, 2025.
“The Authority is committed to protecting the rights of all stakeholders.”
