The Controller, Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS), Ben Oramalugo, has been recognised and honoured for community development.

He won the Strategic Community Development, Service Excellence Performance and emerged as the outstanding Controller of the Year at this year’s Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Award.

The former Comptroller of Kebbi Area Command was celebrated by colleagues, friends and stakeholders at the award ceremony.

Since his redeployment as Oyo/Osun Controller in September 2023, Oramalugo has partnered with community leaders, busted criminal gangs, improved the revenue of the service, displayed exceptional leadership and improved on the command’s capacity to deliver on its mandate at Oyo/Osun command.

The award was presented to him by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, who recognized him for his achievements, Strategic Community Development Service Excellence Performance and the Controller of the Year for ensuring anti-smuggling operations, revenue generation and trade facilitation.

He expressed appreciation Adeniyi for the support given to the command and the honour bestowed on him.

“This is a recognition of our work as a command and this is not only for me but also for my men who are working tirelessly to ensure the success of the Nigeria Customs Service.

“Our partnership with religious and traditional leaders is yielding results, helping us to combat crimes and boost revenue of the service.

“I would like to urge members of the public to continue supporting the Command’s efforts by providing timely information and cooperating with the Command to combat the challenges posed by smugglers and economic saboteurs. Together, we will continue to safeguard our borders, boost revenue generation, and contribute to the economic development of Nigeria.
