NDLEA confirms release of abducted officers in Delta

Delta State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confirmed the release of its abducted officers, who were freed unhurt. The command’s spokesperson, Mr John Kennedy, disclosed this development to The Guardian in Asaba yesterday, stating that the officers were released on Sunday night after sustained pressure from the agency and other security agencies.

Kennedy clarified that while a senior officer was initially reported to have been abducted with his orderly, it was, in fact, another official of the command who was kidnapped at a different location. He commended the efforts of other sister agencies to secure the officers’ release but remained silent on whether any ransom was paid.

The Guardian learnt that the officers were abducted by hoodlums who ambushed them near the NDLEA headquarters off Isah-Ogwashi-Uku road in Aniocha South Local Council, Delta State.

The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. while the officers were on their way home from work.
